Isolates of Bacillus spp. are able to promote the growth of the plants. At Battipaglia Section two strains, named 10 VI bac and 6 V bac, were able to promote growth of small tomato (ecotype Corbarino). In particular, 10 VI bac had increased 26% dry matter. Other three isolates of Bacillus spp. (3 R II bac, Ant. Rhiz. B and 7 III bac) had increased the growth of tobacco. In particular, the isolates 7 III bac had increased significantly dry matter. Conversely, other two isolates (Ant. Scler. and 21 V bac) had sensitively reduced growth of tomato. These last strains are potentially useful as bio-weed-killer.
